SHIMONA ROSE
Singaporean soprano Shimona Rose is the 2024 Pendine International Voice of the Future.
She graduated with a Master of Performance with Distinction from the Royal College of Music in 2020, studying under Amanda Roocroft. Shimona’s earlier achievements include being named the 2018 Opera Scholar of the Year and winning the 37th Annual Australian National Liederfest. She completed her Bachelor of Music at the Melbourne Conservatorium under Carrie Barr.
In December 2022, she made her debut as Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus with the Singapore Lyric Opera at The Esplanade. Her other roles include Anne Trulove in The Rake’s Progress, Nanetta in Falstaff, and Pamina in Die Zauberflöte. She has also performed extensively in oratorios, including Mozart’s Requiem and Orff’s Carmina Burana.
A passionate advocate for both opera and music therapy, Shimona recently completed a Master of Arts in Music Therapy at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she continued vocal studies with Theresa Goble.
Upcoming performances include a Music Therapists’ Gig for Gaza on the 17th of November 2024 in London. On Sunday, 22nd December 2024, Shimona will return to Melbourne, Australia to present a concert of vocal delights in the stunning Chandelier Room at the Hawthorn Arts Centre.

Shimona Thevathasan earned her qualification from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2023.
